HARDWORKING ELVES AT IT AGAIN

The Wednesday sailors have been slaving away again at the club this morning (10/4) , this time sorting out the kayak rack and securing the club boats in their new dingy park spaces. Thank you to all of you, the club is looking in great shape.

WHAT'S ON - AT THE CLUB

It was a roaring success at the Club last Friday for our Fitting Out nibbles night. The prosecco and wine tasting went down a treat and the Club House was full of noise, chat and life. Thank you to everyone who brought some food with them, it certainly served to soak up the refreshments (a bit).

NEXT SOCIAL EVENT IS IN 9 DAYS

Easter Egg Treasure Hunt Good Friday 19th April.

Launch at 10am from Club .

Questions and riddles with answers and items for you to collect around the harbour. This is for all our kayakers out there.

If you wish to take part but don't have a kayak please email social@highcliffesailing.co.uk who can arrange one for you. All contestants will need to bring a dry bag to put your items in and a camera/phone as you will need to take a photo to prove you have been there.

Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd with hot food served from the galley at a nominal price at the end of the race. Even if you do not want to partake come down and watch. At the moment weather is looking reasonable however, we have a plan B in the clubhouse if it is rained off.

Hope to see you there!

WHAT' ON THE WATER

Great turnout last Sunday for the first races of the season. 6 dinghies had a good battle in the harbour with Charles Fowler taking the top spot ahead of his dad, Ken, in his Aero.

Out to sea, there were 7 boats which took on a rather unfriendly run, to race out in the bay. Out practicing for the upcoming Contender Open meeting was Gary Langdown, who despite a capsize in the first race, won both, with James Rusden in his brand new Aero close behind in second place

Next racing is the Easter Trophy in the harbour and the Easter series - 4 races - out to sea.

21st Apr Sun 10:30 Sea Easter Series #1 & 2 h/w 11:24 - 1.6
21st Apr Sun 10:30 Harbour Easter trophy # 1 & 2 h/w 11:24 - 1.6
22nd Apr Mon 10:30 Sea Easter Series #3 & 4 h/w 12:13 - 1.5
22nd Apr Mon 11:00 Harbour Easter trophy # 3 & 4 h/w 12:13 - 1.5

Also the channel marks have now been laid (day too late for last Sunday's racing .. )

Hope the Ladies enjoyed their sailing today. The Ladies WhatsApp group is proving very successful at encouraging impromptu sailing sorties - one WhatsApp message turned into 6 ladies enjoying a sunny and very windy at times, social sail this afternoon (10/4). If anyone wants to be included in the ladies sailing WhatsApp group, please contact sailsec@highcliffesailing.co.uk
